Qt 4.6 Technology Preview Released
Previews new port of Qt to the Symbian platform, enhanced GUI capabilities and performance enhancements.
Oslo, 09 September 2009 – Nokia today released a Technology Preview of Qt 4.6 – the upcoming new version of its cross-platform application and UI framework for desktop, embedded and mobile development. Preview packages are now available to the Qt user community for download, testing and feedback. Qt 4.6 is scheduled for release in Q4 2009, with interim beta releases planned.
Qt 4.6 extends Qt and introduces a range of new features and optimizations, allowing developers to:
- Create more exciting user experiences with advanced graphics effects, a new animation framework and support for gesture-based and multi-touch input methods.
- Target new platforms with a port of Qt to the Symbian Platform, new support for Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.6 and a range of new UNIX platforms, and the framework optimizations for the Linux/X11-based Maemo Harmattan platform.
- Deliver better performance to their users with performance optimizations have been made to key areas of Qt, a new JavaScriptCore based backend for QtScript as part of an updated Qt WebKit Integration, and new support for hardware-accelerated 2D vector graphics using OpenVG.
