Qt 4.6 Release Candidate for Symbian Developers

Update: Developing for the Symbian Platform with Qt 4.6 Release Candidate

17 November, 2009 – Nokia today made available a Release Candidate of Qt 4.6: the upcoming new version of its cross-platform application and UI framework, which includes the port to the Symbian platform with integration for the S60 framework.*  The Release Candidate provides a final chance to preview and give feedback on Qt 4.6 before final launch later in Q4 2009.

*Note that the Qt for Symbian port was previously known as "Qt for S60".

Qt is a cross-platform application framework. Using Qt, you can write applications once and deploy them across many desktop and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code.

Release Status

As with any technology preview, please note that the software contains early pre-release code that is not at the level of performance and compatibility of a final product offering.

The full release of Qt 4.6 is scheduled for Q4 2009.

Licensing

Pre-release versions of Qt are available under a special commerical technology preview license and GNU LGPL version 2.1.
