Your starting point: Qt Essentials

The Qt Essentials Exam is the entry level exam in the Qt Certification program. It covers the fundamental concepts in Qt and Qt development and is the official accreditation for individual developers, recognizing your skills and competence in Qt.

Passing the Qt Essentials Exam earns you the Nokia Certified Qt Developer title.

Proving your skills further: specialized exams

When Qt Certification was introduced, market demand had indicated a need for accrediting a wide range of Qt developers who possess a fundamental level of competence in programming with Qt. We addressed this need by providing Qt developers with the Qt Essentials Exam as a means of proving their knowledge and skills to the degree at which they could establish themselves as qualified Qt developers. Responding to a growing need for recognition of Qt programming specializations, we've recently introduced a new certification scheme starting with two exams that focus on two areas where it is most important Qt developers can prove their high-levels of expertise:

Widget UI with Qt

Development of widget-based UI is historically one of the oldest Qt application domains. It is also one of the most frequently requested categories for a specialized exam.

The Qt Essentials Exam covers some of the basics required to start developing a widget UI, but more advanced topics such as ModelView, custom widgets and multithreading are now taken into the scope of this new exam since they are seen as very important in this area.

Core C++ for Qt Developers

Qt is known for being easy to use even with basic knowledge of C++ and the Qt Essentials Exam requires this basic knowledge, but many of the more advanced aspects of Qt require experience in C++ beyond just the essentials.

We've created the Core C++ for Qt Developers exam in order to test these advanced aspects and officially confirm the competence of Qt specialists who have a somewhat higher level of C++ knowledge and experience.

Passing at least one of the specialized exams (after already having passed the Qt Essentials Exam) earns you the Nokia Certified Qt Specialist title.

The Future of our Program

We aim to expand the program to include more levels of qualification in the future. We took the possibility of expanding the coverage of Qt Certification into account when selecting the scope of the current specialized exams. This allows us to create additional exams without having to modify the content of current specialized exams. Future specialized exams may cover topics such as 2D and 3D graphics, networking, Qt WebKit, processing data, Qt Quick basics as well as advanced use.
