xG Technology
xG Technology, Inc. was founded in 2002 as an IP-centric developer of advanced, innovative technologies that enhance wired and wireless communication. These technologies substantially reduce the capital investment and operating costs required to deploy broadband wireless networks. xMax is the first truly standalone Wide Area Mobile VoIP network. xMax networks are comprised of a product suite of base stations, mobile switching centers (MSCs), mobile phones, and modems. xMax network products are powered by xG Flash Signal, a patented physical and MAC layer technology.
xG Technology used Qt to develop the xMax TX60, an advanced wireless mobile handset that supports xMax services. Operating over xMax or Wi-Fi networks, the TX60 enables access to the valuable set of xMax services and features at home, in the office, on the road, in the US and abroad. xG Technology commissioned Cambridge Consultants to provide turnkey development - including industrial, electronic and mechanical design and user interface software for the TX60 handset.
In addition to the xMax TX60, xG Technology also used Qt to develop a tool to upgrade the firmware of the TX60 phone and an emulator to allow xMax calls to be placed over wired IP connections both running on the Linux desktop.

The Qt Advantage
xG Technololgy on Qt"Compared to Java Swing or wxWidgets, Qt is easier to use (cleaner interfaces), has higher quality, and lets you implement a lot more with much less code making the UIs more appealing and snappier."
"This was the first project in our company with Qt technology and we would recommend Qt for future projects, depending on the nature of the application." Shimon Hochbaum, Director, Product Line Management, xG Technology, Inc. |
