Firstlogic
Qt eased the process of building reusable code, simplifying and streamlining the development of the FirstLogic product.
Firstlogic, a recognized leader in the information quality marketplace, wanted easier integration with a wider range of enterprise applications for its next generation solutions for designing, deploying and managing data quality.
The Challenge
Firstlogic's new information quality product suite, IQ8, needed to be more accessible to non-programmers. In fact, it needed to offer more of a plug and play environment. As part of its new design, Firstlogic wanted a fully integrated environment with a similar look and feel across multiple components. Additionally the new suite would need to support part numbers, SKU numbers and other operational data, so the company needed a framework that would provide the breadth of flexibility that would make it possible to design robust functionality.
The Solution
Qt eased the process of building reusable code, simplifying and streamlining the development of the new product. Qt’s user interface widgets proved to be key elements in aiding the design as was the documentation that made it easy for the development team to enable key functions. The Qt framework delivered the fully integrated environment the company was looking for and helped it to design a robust, easy-to-use solution.
The Value
Not only did Qt save Firstlogic significant time in development, it delivered the framework the company needed to design a product with robust functionality and broader market appeal.
We were looking for a very modern, flexible toolkit and we found it in Qt. Qt includes basically everything you can imagine, such as the ability to embed ActiveX® controls on Windows® if you need them. We’re a C++ shop, so we wanted a toolkit that didn’t require our people to learn a new language. - David Dobson, Director of Technology, Firstlogic
